Afghanistan

As natural and man-made disasters come together in Afghanistan, there is no shortage of cultural heritage under threat. Conflict in Ghazni province (Central Afghanistan) and Ningarhar Province (East Afghanistan) has not only affected the cultural heritage, but has also made the sites difficult to access. The situation had become quite urgent, as sites important to the local community and of great architectural and historic value in the affected areas were on the verge of collapsing. Assessing the damage and the value of the heritage to the local communities was necessary.
